New beginnings

I have toyed with the idea of starting a blog for years. I used to love writing but over the years, as it does, day job and “grown-up” life edged out the creative outlets I enjoyed in school.

It was two things that made my mind up.

Yesterday I completed a 10 day immersion as part of YogaOne Houston’s RYT200 training program. I honestly didn’t expect it to shake me so much. The fine-tuned training content, amazing team of teachers, and my wonderful cohort family, allowed me to uncover (very gradually) that for 10 years I’d stifled the creativity I was once passionate about, all because of lies I was telling myself about the need to impress others. I left our final session yesterday committed to reigniting the creative light that I had dimmed for so long.

Then, this morning, I woke up to an email from the Live Your Legend team; “Last day to join the Start a Blog Challenge”. Chelsea Dinsmore’s words have been a source of comfort, motivation, and inspiration to me, and if you’re going to take advice from one person on stepping outside of your comfort zone, let it be her! Her extremely moving words on moving through discomfort after Scott, her husband and creator of LYL, passed away, were one reason I signed up for yoga teacher training in the first place.

Some say coincidence, some say lucky, but if this week has taught me anything, it’s “What we think, we become”.
